City of Kushiro, Hokkaido

Kushiro City, located on the Pacific coast of eastern Hokkaido, is blessed with the grandeur of nature, including the Kushiro Wetland and Akan national parks. With a population of around 180,000, it functions as the social, economic and cultural centre of eastern Hokkaido.

This area can rightly be called the centre of Japan's food production because of its abundant agricultural production led by dairy farming, a forestry industry that taps into rich forest resources, and a fishing industry that boasts one of the largest catches in the nation.

Kushiro is known for the marimo algae balls in Lake Akan, as well as the tancho (red-crowned cranes), which have been designated as Special Natural Monuments of Japan. In addition, other globally valuable and fascinating regional resources are abundant.

Ideal Climate for Training Camps

Kushiro City has no rainy season, and only light rainfall or snowfall throughout the year. With a cool summer and a sunny autumn, Kushiro is a great place for training camps. The monthly highest temperatures in Kushiro are 10 degrees Celsius lower than those of the Tokyo area. Kushiro can offer you an ideal environment where you can concentrate on hard training without undue concern for climate-influenced medical issues, such as heat stroke. You will enjoy efficient training, wafted by the pleasant breeze of the Kushiro Wetland.
