Narita City is a regional hub city located in north-central Chiba Prefecture, directly east of Tokyo, with a population of 132,000. Narita International Airport, Japan's gateway to the sky, is the nation's leading international airport, being connected to 107 cities in 37 countries and three regions with 110 routes (as of April 2016). It also serves 17 domestic destinations with 18 routes, offering easy access to major cities in Japan. In addition, you can travel to Tokyo in just 36 minutes by rail, and in one hour by car using the motorway.

Naritasan Shinshoji Temple is a major tourist destination, visited by more than 10 million worshippers annually. It is one of the most prominent temples in Japan, with a history of over 1,000 years. Long before the creation of the airport, Narita flourished as a temple town, and that tradition continues to this day. All year long, visitors can still enjoy the traditional scenery of restaurants and souvenir shops on both sides of Omotesando Street, the road from JR Narita Station to the temple.

Thus, Narita is a city with two aspects: dynamism as seen in the international airport, and serenity as seen in Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, both integrated harmoniously in a rich natural environment. The city is also blessed with a mild climate and abundant nature. The greatest benefit of holding a pre-Games training camp in Narita is that all the facilities you will need, including the airport, accommodations, and training fields, are all located within a small area in close proximity to Tokyo, with which enjoys similar weather conditions.

For these reasons, we are confident that athletes will have no stress training here in Narita. We, the citizens of Narita, are ready to extend all the assistance needed to ensure a productive and enjoyable time for pre-Games training campers. We would also like to extend our sincere welcome and friendship to all the athletes and participants in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
