Nihonmatsu City is located in the north of Fukushima Prefecture, which is the gateway to Tohoku district.

Approximately 3 hours on the Tohoku Expressway (by car) or 2 hours by Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo, Nihonmatsu, a city in tune with nature, also takes pride in its distinguished history and rich cultural traditions. Our city is studded with hot springs, including Dake spa, and produces many local specialties, such as sake, fruit, Japanese confectioneries, and Japanese paper.

The training centre of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is located here, and the city plays roles of supporting JICA and promoting international exchange.
